As if in some terrifying police state, an author is interrogated about the similarity between a spate of recent child murders and his own grisly fiction. As the story of his disturbed childhood unfolds, the fine line between truth and fiction and between artistic value and depravity become blurred.

An important play – frightening, bleak and very, very beautiful.

Sick, twisted and brilliant, Martin McDonaghs twisted tale of child abuse, torture and death in a totalitarian world is unexpectedly full of guilty laughs and utterly watchable....anyone with a truly black sense of humour will love this irreverent, shocking but above all, entertaining play.

Excellent production. Interesting set which was utilized to the full. Effective lighting. Very high standard of acting from all. The actors showed a deep and empathetic understanding of the characters. I was enthralled throughout the evening and would highly recommend it to those who might have been put off by the subject matter.

The Pillowman was brilliant last night. It is much funnier than you'd expect and you find yourself laughing and some really disturbing things! The whole thing had some really creative direction and clever / unexpected use of the minimalist set. The acting was really strong, I especially enjoyed Katurian whose story-telling was captivating and Tupolski whose comic timing was impeccable. If you don't go to see it you will really miss out on something that leaves you debating what went on, and competetively repeating your favourite bits into the small hours!

Well done to an incredibly polished and accomplished production of The Pillowman. It is a dark tale that's true, but the humour acts as a perfect balance to the compelling story. There wasn't a weak link in the production and the performance I saw had the audience both laughing and sitting on the edge of their seat.Great stuff

If you want to see some excellent theatre, go to see 'The Pillowman' at the Crescent Theatre this week. I went yesterday afternoon, great cast, great writing and great show. Dont miss out!!! The whole show was just excellent!
