Politicians behaving badly

To celebrate his bicentenary, The Crescent presents Gogol’s masterpiece. Originally set in small town Russia of the 1830s, The Government Inspector is a classic satire on human vanity, corruption and self-interest.

A penniless clerk from Moscow is mistaken for a visiting government inspector and what follows is one of the great comedies of all time, and one that remains as pertinent today as it was when it was first performed.

"Old parody still relevant ... we can still chortle about its blatant bribery of officialdom and references to government training schemes ... a noisy romp ... It's a lot of fun" - John Slim, Birmingham Evening Mail.
