by Polly Wright

Thu 26th & Fri 27th November 2009 at 7.45pm in the Ron Barber Studio Theatre

Jasmin is a lesbian who wants to get pregnant
Paul is a young gay man who’s depressed and worried that he might have cancer
Chris is a successful business man who likes cruising in more senses than one
Irene - his wife- is concerned about some mysterious symptoms.

They all want help from their GPs ... But can their needs be met?

Research shows that 27% of gay men and 44% of lesbian and bi-sexual women do not disclose their sexuality to their GP and that some health professionals would prefer that the whole subject was kept secret.

Straight Talking gets these issues out in the open.

The Equality Act (Sexual Orientations) Regulations 2007, which came into force on 30 April 2007, prohibit sexual orientation discrimination in the provision of goods, facilities and services. It is expected that they will lead to an improvement in the level of healthcare and uptake of services by Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual people. At least 6% of the population is Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual.

Straight Talking is now available as a DVD
