Stage2 Presents
Twelfth Night
Wed 16th - Sat 19th December 2009 at 7.30pm in The Main House
Matinee: Sat 19th at 2.00pm
‘Quite superb - the best Twelfth Night I have ever seen, and that includes the Stratford ones! So packed with energy and good ideas. I have never seen young people speak Shakespeare so clearly and well. Birmingham at its best – inspired.’ Head of English King Edward VI Aston School on Stage2’s Twelfth Night Jan 2003
Following our 20th birthday last year, the landmarks continue for Stage2 as we present our 100th major production! After the recent success of A Midummer Night’s Dream (see below) we return to the Crescent the week before Christmas to revisit Twelfth Night (see above!).
Set in Victorian times the production will be packed with festive treats and more than a few special surprises! Come and meet Sir Toby Belch, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Malvolio, Viola and of course that famous vaudeville double act ‘Feste and Fabian’ as they fall in love and out of favour!
As well as cast of 100 we will have carol singers to serenade the audience and street urchins giving out programmes, allowing our whole company to join in the fun. It will be fast paced, visually impressive and exceptionally clear (characters, words and plot) and so will be an ideal Christmas night out for the whole family. A perfect first visit to Shakespeare, though anyone familiar with the text will also find some twists to discuss and debate…
"For 21 years I have somehow resisted the temptation to call this dynamic young group brilliant. This time I realised it was time to give up the struggle. Liz Light directs the funniest Dream I have ever seen." Birmingham Mail on Stage2’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, April 2009
