Stage2 presents
Shadow of a Gunman
Wed 14th – Sat 17th January 2009 at 7.30pm in the Ron Barber Studio Theatre
Donal is a poet without political affiliation who shares tenement digs with his friend Seamus. The neighbours have Donal pegged as an I.R.A. man on the run. Young attractive Minnie is excited by such an exotic figure in their midst, however British soldiers are searching the tenements for insurgents.
Set in the Dublin slums, O’Casey’s classic charts the daily lives of its occupants. They talk, dream and spin out their hours, trapped between the rock of the IRA and the hard place of the infamous Black and Tans.
High comedy combines exuberantly with the tragedy of lives lived under a brutal occupying power, to create one of the great plays of the 20th century bought to life by this highly acclaimed youth group.
Tickets: £8.50 (No Concessions)
