Passions flare on a remote country estate during a long hot summer in Brian Friel’s vivid modern translation of Ivan Turgenev’s classic play.

Natalya Petrovna and her young ward, Vera, both fall hopelessly in love with Alksey, the young tutor of Natalya’s son, Kolya. But Natalya has a jealous husband and Vera has an admirer of her own. Soon what start as harmless crushes have consequences neither can foresee.
